Public sector tendering, whether it be for council, central government of NHS contracts, can be a daunting, and often confusing process. There are lots of hoops to jump through and it’s difficult to know where to start. 

Here are some of the most common questions asked by our clients. 

Most tenders are open for companies to bid, however each tender will have specific qualification criteria based on the service or product being tendered for. This can include having specific accreditations, having a stable financial history or appropriate experience in delivering the contract. If you’re just starting out, it can be a bit of an uphill battle to win that first tender. However, if you are confident that you can deliver the contract and offer value for money, even smaller businesses can win a contract. It may mean that you will need to target lower value contracts to start with, to get your foot in the door. 

There are many services available to find public sector tenders, with some companies charging a subscription fee. Whilst these can be useful to find private sector tenders, access to public sector tenders should be freely available. We provide a one-off tender setup service to get you registered on government portals and start receiving appropriate tender opportunties directly to your inbox, without any recurring fees. 

Writing good tender responses can be a bit of a dark are. We have video resources that might help you refine your bid writing skills. Our pricing entirely depends on the scope of each tender. Every tender will have different requirements and volume of work. We provide a free and bespoke, no obligation quote based on each tender. Simply send us the details of the tender you’re interested in and we can provide you with a quote. 

Smaller companies may lack the infrastructure, experience or staffing resources to be able to deliver on larger public sector contracts. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be opportunities for smaller contracts that might be more suitable. We support smaller businesses grow into tendering, helping them to build the appropriate processes and policies to get them in a good position to be competitive.  

We provide a fully managed bid writing service. Whilst this covers almost everything, including writing responses to tender questions, completing all necessary questionnaires, liaising with buyers via their procurement portal, a compliance check and submitting the bids; we do require clients to engage with us to share details about how their business operates. We also require our clients to price up their own tenders and complete their own financial assessments (where this is needed).
